Airplane Name: Designated "CV-880" by Convair. Followed the successfull Convair Model "440".

Idea: Proposed by Howard Hughes for exclusive operation with TWA.

Short History of the Convair CV-990 "Coronado" Jet Airliner

CV-990: CV-990-Table

Airplane Name: First designated "CV-600". This stood for an operation speed of 600 miles/hour. Later changed in "CV-990". Name "Coronado" in memory of the Spanish Conquistador Francisco Vasquez de Coronado (1540 in Mexico).
