AA3OY Jerry
Thank God today is Friday!!

This webpage is dedicated to the memory of AA3OY, Jerry. Jerry passed away May 7,1998. He was a dedicated ham operator and served as VE for the PROS in Salisbury, Maryland.

My name is Big John Dize, W3BJ. My equipment consist of a Kenwood TS 450,Yaesu FT450, Kenwood TR751A, Kenwood TM241 and Yaesu ft 2500. I run a HyGain Mark 4 and G5RV homemade on HF, a Ralcon 4 element on 2 Meters and a Msquare for 6meters. I belong to SCARES, PROS ,and ESHARE radio clubs. I have 3 children (2 girls and a boy) of which none are interested in ham radio. I turned over the VE teasting to Dale KA3SVF, and he is carrying on the tests given at the Holly Center.

Our local repeater is located in Princess Anne, Maryland on 146.625 -025 with 156.7 tone. The 146.925 repeater is active now with most local hams useing it every day. Our face may be changing soon. The local 911 system upgrade is now progressing along. We have 2 new tower sites to put repeater antennas to link up some local repeaters. While passing through Eastern Shore give me a call. We offer the best seafood on the East Coast, and Crisfield is the Seafood Capitol of the World. The past 6 years my equipment has been stored away and except for a couple stations I worked from the W3PP setup, I have not be active.I would like to thank W3PP for letting me work from his QTH.Ihave my shack back equipped now and am on the bands whenever I get a chance. I would to thank my volunteer examiners who have made a successful program for us. W3KSV-Robert, N3ETP-Bobby who ran this program for years and taught me everything I know. W3OR-Ron, KB3QV-Bill -If not for these people the Eastern Shore would be lacking a few new operators. In the past 2 years we have put hundreds of hams on the air to enjoy this hobby.

My main hobby is working DX. In the past 10 years I have confirmed just about all the countries I can obtain. I run a Kenwood TS450 with a HyGain Mark 4 beam and a Ameritron AL-82 amplifier that puts out legal limit. The bands are getting better as days go on.There are occasional band openings and it looks like the next cycle is approaching.1999 was a good year for DX. I worked over 200 countries in 99-2000 bringing my total to 326 confirmed. I urge all technician and tech plus operators to upgrade soon and take advantage of these good conditions. My good friend Blaine(N3YMH) has tried to make it several times. We all are pulling for him as he loves ham radio so much. He is retired and has very few hobbies now.Ham Radio is his main hobby ,as Viagra has tapered off due to unfavorable aftereffects. You can find Blaine on 6 meters or on 2 meter simplex any day of the week, if he is not out picking cucumbers. Blaine finally got his extra class ticket and now is helping out with the VE program. Al, K3TKJ is giving code classes and making it real easy to get to 5 wpm.

Chuck, N3RKT, has put in place a new repeater for the Crisfield area, 145.110. We will be able to reach to the Western Shore and beyond. Our hopes is to link up our local repeater with the main one in Princess Anne some day. We offer many advantages in emergency situations. We have access to generators and mobile units if ever needed. Most of our operators are RACES and ARES certified and are SKYWARN certified.

Some of my first students have went on to make good ham radio operators. KB3CGN, Jack, is a perfect example. He is dedicated to Ham radio now is willing to help in any emergency situation. Also N3ZWG, William, is always there ready for anything. N3ZWF, Danny, is Jack's son is a truck driver and can heard up and down the road. N3SZJ, Ken, are on the verge of upgrading to Advanced. N3ZWH, Les, is also got into the operations. Les is a Deputy Sheriff and carries his ham radio equipment with him. He is always there if needed in emergency situations. Another law officer is KC3YB, John, just retired from 30 years on Maryland State Police. We have a variety of professional people at our disposal in the Delmarva Peninsula Area. This little group is within a 15 square mile area. Every night around 8 pm on 3.905 you are invited to join the Spirit Net. It is run by Phil WA3MNS from Waldorf, Md. He is a minister and reads scriptures from the Bible every night from 930 on. This a groupdevoted to clean use of ham radio, combined with fellowship from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina just to name a few.
