OTHER SKILLS

Computer Skills I have been using MS-DOS based systems since 1987, and over the years I have
used a wide variety of different word processors, spreadsheets, operating
systems, graphics packages, design, and communications programs. These
programs include Windows, C, Unix, Excel, P-Frame, CARIS, and many others.
In April 1998, I received an AutoCAD R-14 Level I Certificate.
Work Skills A past job in the tourism industry required good communication skills and hard
work in order to please customers. Various situations demanded quick thinking
to resolve problems quickly and efficiently. I was innovative and resourceful in the
roofing and repair of a cottage, although I had no previous experience. During the
summer of 1996, I worked as an Assistant Construction Inspector and, through
necessity, quickly learned the basics of inspecting various construction projects.
I was forced to work independently much of the time, and carry out a wide range
of tasks from paperwork to inspecting a paving project in progress. On my work
term during the winter of 1997, I was opened to a variety of new experiences while
working for the Hydrographic Service. Adaptability was the key, as I was expected
to perform a large number of unfamiliar and diverse tasks.
