About CCAMS

What is CCAMS?
CCAMS or Central California Aerospace Modeling Society is a sport Rocketry and R/C model airplane orginization. The orginization provides multiable launch locations on the Central part of California for rocketry.
Where?
CCAMS covers most of the central part of California. Although we have members all over the state only have launched in the central part of California. Most Rocketry flields are large enough for R/C aicraft.
Currently there is only on launch site. At the Arroyo Grande High launch site. And all CCAMS members a welcome to attend the launches. There are plans for the 99-2000 year to start two new launch locations.
What kind of Rocketry and R/C aircraft?
Rocketry: Pretty much any kind of rocket from 1/4A through H. For right now nothing larger than H is allowed due to the size of the launch fields.
R/C: 0.020 through Griant scale. It all depends on the flying field. Control line and Heli.
Insurance?
For the 99-2000 Year CCAMS will be providing Rocketry insuracne through NAR. And R/C is covered by Sport Flyers of America.

Membership and its Privileges

Considering joining CCAMS?

Not sure what it will do for you?

Here are several good reasons why you should!

CCAMS is the nonprofit association for those interested in nonprofessional sport and high power rocketry and all types of radio-controlled aircraft. membership offers many benefits:

DISCOUNTS  - Local stores recognize the importance of our program and the buying power of our group. Many offer discounts for members and have committed to carrying the supplies and publications we need.

SAFE & LEGAL  - In many communities, CCAMS is the only organization legally authorized to launch and fly model rockets and R/C aircraft. As additional laws are passed, it becomes more difficult to find places to fly legally. CCAMS works with local authorities to protect the rights of both enthusiasts and other citizens. All necessary permits and waivers are filed by the Society, and events are conducted following nationally approved safety guidelines and all applicable laws.

NATIONAL AFFILIATIONS  - Affiliation with national organizations, such as the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and Sport Flyers of America (SFA), provides the support and camaraderie of a local club with the recognition, insurance, and support of a national organization.

ROCKET LAUNCES, R/C AIRCRAFT FLIGHTS, & COMPETITIONS  - Join us for launches and flights several times each year throughout local communities and for our special launches a couple of times per year. Members receive discounts at special events, and local events are usually free.

AND HOW COULD WE FORGET… FUN!  - Sure it can be fun going out to a field with a friend and shooting off a couple of rockets or fly a plane, but think of how much more fun it would be with five other people who love the hobby, too? How about with 10 others? 50 others! It's great. Plus, when you add in the discounts, a great Society newsletter, training and advice from fellow members, national affiliation, and all the rest, it makes the entire sport more enjoyable.

So join today!
