The Acceptance test for Camp Bullis was completed the last week of March. With only a few things left to do to make it 100% it is now operational. We still need to complete the installation of the Operations Console and work out a sutable link back to the master controller, but the system is operational. The coverage for the site is terrific. Being on such a high elevation gives us total coverage at Bullis and communications all the way to downtown. Once the Wide Area is up and running, the folks from Brooks can go to Fiesta Texas and still talk on their portable. (just kidding)
The Radnolph site has SPS approval. All that's needed is mega bucks. We are pursuing an SDA to get a firm quote on the site as well as upgrade to Smartzone. The Randolph site will come online from day one as narrowband. The rest will follow as funding allows with a drop dead conversion date of 2003. We would like to make the switch to Smartzone in conjunction with narrowband so we only have to reprogram the 5,000 or so user units once. In the meantime, we are phasing out the Sabers and Spectra and only buying narrowband Astro equipment. That way we don't have the cost of a complete replacement in one lump sum.
The next meeting ot the Trunked User's Group will be in June. Location and time to be announced.
