Referecnce Material
The first goal in carving anything is to pick a subject. Once a subject is picked you then meed to acquire as much refrence material on that subject as you can. A good example is carving a mallard drake. First draw the pattern of you carving to be transfered on your block of wood. There are many fine books avaliable with patterns in them to choose from if you cannot draw good. Next find as many pictures on that subject as you can get. A good place to get these is magazines and books. Once you feel you are ready take your time and enjoy what you are doing. Good luck and happy carving.
