Many years ago when people in louisiana started carving decoys, the purpose was not to sell them like today, but rather hunt with them. Back then the old timers would gather around the woodden stove in the shead and talk about the hunt they had that day. The stories are still the same, and if you know a cajun there a little far from the truth, but the decoys have changed consiterably. Today a hand carved decoy can fetch alot of money. The old timers knifes are replaced with high tech dental tools. Sure we still use a knife alot but now the detail work is much more life like.
