WHY A WORLD TOUR ???
The aim of my tour is to meet people from different parts of the world, share and understand their way of life, joys and their courage in facing difficulties. I was fortunate to meet Chris and Erin as they rode through India. Those were enlightening days when I spent hours listening to their experiences on the road, looking at their photographs, learning about trip planning, documentation, etc. Their acquaintance led me to interact with other round the world (RTW) bikers including Gregory Frazier, Grant and Susan Johnson, Mariola Cichon, Tom and Kirstin Walsh, Kay and Peter Forwood etc.
The purpose of my trip is to learn about the world. Learning happens in many ways, when we see new sights, meet new people, learn about cultures, heritage, history, experience and take part in new traditions and rituals, face new challenges and come out victorious. In short I want to explore the world around us and What better way to see the world than on a motorcycle?
I will be probably riding a motorcycle manufactured in India. Probably the same TVS-Victor (in the picture), because it is cheap to run and easy to maintain. The goal of this journey is to take each day as it comes, make the best use of the journey to learn. As John Lennon said: "Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans."
Being an ardent nature lover, I also want to spend as much time possible camping, learning about local environmental issues, and volunteering with local NGO’s, wherever possible.
I plan to start my sojourn sometime in mid-2006. The plan is to head east towards Malaysia via, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. Then ship the bike to Australia and NZ where I plan to get a temporary work permit and earn some extra cash. After Oz, voyage to South America and the ride across to North America. Then again by ship to South Africa to ride across Africa on the way to Europe and finally go across Siberia and head back to India by air from Tokyo or if visa is granted ride through China, Tibet and Nepal.
I am looking for sponsors/ supporters to help make achieve my dream. If you think I'm doing something great and feel like helping.
Offer a place to stay for few days (even your garage or barn would do)
Get me a temporary job so that I can earn a few bucks to support my tour
Put me in touch with your friends and contacts who are willing to help
If you are a travel editor, buy travel stories
Get me publicity in your local newspapers, TV or radio
This journey is my dream. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please free to e-mail me.
Like Brian and Shirley, two Aussie bikers said "Roads are for journeys - not to reach destinations" I would like to travel as much as possible.
