Gunung Tahan

Gunung Tahan is the highest peak in West Malaysia standing at 2187meters. One has to go through the national park, Taman Negara in order to get to the top. The journey to the summit involves between six to 10 days trek, depending on which route you’re taking. The shortest or least time needed to reach the summit is from the north-western side of Taman Negara, from the town of Merapoh. One will go through the oldest rain forest in the world and once above the 1800meter marked, tall trees gave way to montane scrubs and you will be walking in the open all the way to the summit, one of the highlight of the trek. As on the summit you will be able to see the main range towards the west and Gunung Benom towards the south-west.
