I finally got the engine in the truck, and the 700R4 mated to the engine, transfer case. I used the existing wiring harness and connected all of the components that came with the engine. The computer is mounted, but now I'm in the tedious task of figuring out the wiring. Living here in Los Alamos, NM is very very cold this time of year. Being that my garage has no doors and just a tarp to cover the 4Runner, it is very cold out there. When I get enough motivation, I'll go out there and get the wiring done. But until then, it will just sit there on blocks. I did manage to get the IFS cut off and and '84 solid axle swapped on. So, that's about where it stands now. Soon, I'll have some pics of the swap in action.
Welcome to my 4-wheeling page. My most predominant hobby is 4-wheeling in my 4Runner. My Runner has a few perks that have been installed on it. It has been known to be called a RASS (Rolling Auto Supply Store), I call it Little Red. I have done everything except press in the 4.88 Ring and Pinion in the pumpkins. I didn't have a shop press to do the job, next time. Here is a list of what has been installed on the rig. Of course, I do have to give credit to a few friends for helping me put the lift kit on. Thanks to Mike Holliday and Tim Kissane for their help with installing the lift kit.

Wishful thinking: it may happen.....
Here are some more pics that I have taken on several small excursions. I have recently lived in Arizona, and therefore had the grand opportunity to do some wheeling in Sycamore Canyon, Fire Hole, Ajax Canyon and the San Tan Mountains. I tried to find the Terminator, but was not able to locate it, maybe next time I'll have a GPS.
Here my wife was honing her
driving skills as she proceeded up the Fire Hole canyon. She is getting pretty
good now. A while back, I guided her through some really rough stuff. With the
tires on the edge of loose boulders, and a very steep hill below the boulders,
she is getting pretty good.
Here I was just messing around.
Wanted to get a pic before I left Arizona. In this shot, I decided to go only
a little way up the Fire Hole. Didn't want to go to far, especially with out
a ground guide.
Here is another shot of the
Fire Hole. This is a pretty deep crack, you don't want to get stuck in there.
I was out with some friends
from Arizona, Brian and Jean Martin, when we got this cool flexing shots in
the San Tan Mountains. We had a really good time with Brain and Jean, however,
I think after this trip, they realized just how well lockers really worked.
I think I was getting a good 14" of travel here. This is before I put on the extended shackles. I haven't measured the flex with the new shackles, but it must be more.
I took Brian on a small trip
up this road, which got very narrow in one spot. Coming down, Brian was hanging
on to the grab handle very tight. In fact, I think the pucker factor was up
pretty high on the pucker scale. Its always a nervous deal when going down hill,
and the back tire starts coming up in the air.
Here, Carole is having some
fun in the San Tan Mountains, Arizona. She is getting pretty trusting of me...
:-), what fun.
This is a familiar spot to
the Arizona wheelers, a tight spot in Sycamore Canyon. This is the entrance
to some pretty tough wheeling in Sycamore Canyon.
After I made the squeeze, I
got stuck trying to climb this very loose bank. The combination of loose rocks,
water and sand didn't make it easy. I ended up backing down and getting a run
at it, which did put me over the bank. It really is a nice area.
This was taken coming back
through the tight spot in Sycamore Canyon. As you can see, there was a little
bit of water still floating around. This definitely cooled things off in the
hot Arizona sun.
This was taken in my home town
of Los Alamos, New Mexico. My nephew was having a little fun driving around.
We found a small hill to stretch out the suspension. This was after I put on
the extended shackles, however I forgot to measure how much travel I am now
getting. Soon, I'll let you know.
Here, Carole is making the
tight turn onto a trial. It appears that it was an old mining road, however,
it obviously has not been used in quite a few years. At any rate, it was challenging
getting through this spot, and beyond this spot it was even rougher.
