My Bunyip
Sadly it is now:
FOR SALE
Only $4400 ono.
Unfortunately I have decided to sell the Bunyip as I don't get much time to enjoy it these days... and it'd be nice to buy a new car... yep my '79 Chrysler is going cheap if anyone wants to make an offer!!
The Bunyip is very easy to land, with a tricycle undercarriage, and it is so much fun to fly with the open cockpit!
If you are interested in purchasing this fun little plane, please email me kym@riverland.net.au

Mum took the above photo as I taxied back from my first landing in the Bunyip, following my flight home to Loxton from Karoonda where I purchased it.
Thanks to Mark & Tim (Tim's page: http://www.riverland.net.au/~berriair/ ) for taking the above photos while I was flying.
A short history:
I purchased this Bunyip in May 2005. I think I am either the 3rd or 4th owner of this particular aircraft.
Unfortunately, I had an engine failure in October of
that year (incident report listed on page 16 of Recreational Aviation
Australia magazine, August 2006). I thank God for keeping me safe as
I was able to land in a paddock without further problems.
I only
have myself to blame for continuing to fly the aircraft when the EGT
(Exhaust Gas Temperature) gauges were not working, thus I was unable
to see that the engine had reached a critically high temperature
which resulted in piston failure.
It took me until January 2007 to get the engine ready to start again.
Here's some photos from the ground-test with new pistons installed:
Thanks to Nigel for the video and 2 photos above, and many thanks to Mr Porter (commercial pilot) who happened to be there on the day and loaned me his “jump-start” kit and held the wing!
After fixing the problems with the EGT's, I finished the ground-run on 4th February, and I took the Bunyip for its first test-flight with the reconditioned engine on the 10th February.
Sunday 11th February 2007, short circuit to confirm everything is OK, then departed with Nigel in his “SuperCat” to fly to Karoonda where 17 aircraft “dropped in” for the afternoon!
The strong headwind meant that the 50Nm trip took us 2hours! Thank you very much to Nigel who stayed alongside me the whole way even though he could have gone much faster! At least the return trip only took 53 minutes!
See page 32 of the April 2007 edition of “Recreational Aviation Australia” for the article about this flight and the event.
Here's some shots Nigel took from the trip:
Above:

SuperCat 308. You can just see Rex's red Kitfox behind that.
