Senior Applications Engineer. I am responsible for for the technical sale. I prepare customized demos, and explain our three tier client/server architecture, and the benefits of Customer Assett Management to prospective customers. The Applications Engineer position at Vantive is both a technical and a sales role. Strong knowledge of the sales process is esential for success in selling this complex product to large customers. Intense technical knowledge is also mandatory here as my role is to become the confidant of the technical evaluation team. I finished my first year at 150% of Quota, and my second year at close to 300% of Quota to make me the top performing Applications Engineer in Vantive worldwide. Product Manager. I was responsible for Centura's flagship development tools, SQLWindows and Centura Team Developer, including their next release, which is a Java based development tool. I was on the initial team investigating Dynamic HTML development solutions, which eventually crystallized into the product called Centura Web Developer (now shipping). I managed all phases of the development cycle, from turning marketing requirements into a functional product description, recruiting and managing beta programs, to defining packaging requirements. I have conducted extensive research into Internet technologies for both the Web Developer product, and our forthcoming Java based development tool as well as our own corporate website. I had extensive interaction, both in person and on-line/over the phone, with customers in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe to both help the marketing effort and gather information to support the decision making process. I instigated to the entire company the movement for a stronger web presence, and since doing so, their corporate website has won several awards, and their hit rate is more than double.Symantec, Santa Cruz, CA 1/94 to 1/96
Client/Server Specialist. I was responsible for supporting the sales force in placing Enterprise Developer in the Top 10 Worldwide accounts for evaluation, then supporting that evaluation. I was also responsible for creating demo scripts for the sales and marketing team. Other activities include: periodic presentations of the technology and it's future to Symantec's Operating Committee, press briefings both in the USA and internationally, corporate briefings of Fortune 1000 companies, arena presentations at trade shows, and training the Systems Engineers and sales representatives on client/server technology. I received the "Club 100" award (given to everyone at or above 100% commission) every quarter. Client/Server Specialist. I was responsible for pre-sales and post-sales support of Borland's Client/Server tools on both the client and the server throughout Europe, the Near East and Africa. I provided technical support to the Sales team whenever and wherever necessary, including: troubleshooting technical issues on site for new and prospective customers, manning booths and giving arena presentations at trade shows. I interacted with the development team in California with regards to software localization issues, and product futures. I was responsible for installing, administering, and maintaining the database servers on a mixture of SCO, Solaris, VMS, and OS/2 platforms used by the UK support team.
SQL-Link Support Engineer. I was responsible for corporate end user support of Borland's Paradox and SQL-Link product. Paradox SQL-Link allows users to create applications that access data from remote database servers. I acted as mentor to the new technicians, and leant my expertise to the Quality Assurance team on a regular basis. I acted as the database support contact for all of Borland's foreign offices. I was Responsible for building and maintaining knowledgebase used by Database technical support worldwide. I gave many product demonstrations to users groups. Software Engineer, Accounts Receivable Product Manager, responsible for all enhancements to the AR product and coordinated the release of new Order Management software. Extensive knowledge of IMAGE, a relational database for the HP3000 was necessary. Heavy customer support. More than half my time was spent training, trouble shooting, and problem solving for clients. LAN manager, evaluated an existing network, then installed and maintained a new LAN that included over 30 Macintoshes, PC's, modems, laser and dot matrix printers. Designed and implemented a database to track software bugs and user problems. Designed and implemented a database application to track sales leads.
