Manastash Trail System West of Ellensburg
WA
This area in the Wenatche National Forest, Cle Elem Ranger
district has some of the most beautiful and scenic trails around. Some views of
Mount Rainier are found high up at the tops of
these trails. Buck Meadows, Tripod Flats, Shoestring Lake,
Funny Rocks. These are the local names of some very scenic and moderate to
difficult ORV trails that are available in the area.
Ellensburg is about 3 hours
from Spokane
(174 miles), just west of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. To get to the
primitive camping areas called Riders’ Camp, Cow Camp, follow these
directions.
Exit at the first westbound
Ellensburg exit, head north on Canyon
Rd, turn left on Umtanum Rd. Umtanum road becomes Schaake Rd as it
veers south. This brings you to Damman
Rd. Next you will turn right onto Manastash Rd by a school house.
Follow Manastash Rd
and it will bring you to the camping areas. Down by Manastash Creek is a sign board that will introduce you to the trails, and has
information on what kind of vehicles are allowed.
