SACRIFICE CIRCUIT RACING [Before Alibice]
Alibice Circuit Racing came about in mid 1999 when Larry Rae from Sacrifice
and Lenny Everingham from Alibi
joined forces .
Larry decided to put Sacrifice out to pasture after winning the Eastway Shield in March 1999 & Lenny blew his 6 lt Ford engine in Alibi after losing a prop at Raymond Terrace a few weeks earlier.
It was only a matter of time before
they combined and the 511ci Chev [now 525ci] from Sacrifice
was bolted into Alibi's 18'4" Childsplay
hull.
The boat was made by Gary & Rob Newall
from "Childsplay Marine" in Sydney.
It is powered by a Fuel Injected Big Block Chev [see MOTOR] runnuing on Methanol fuel, through a Hayes & Hellier V - Drive gearbox with 45% step-up.
The prop is a 11 1/4" "Precision SS 2 blade
Stealth" supplied by Chris & Carol at "Propellor Technologies" in
Sydney. We spent a few hours with them & they put a GPS & a
Laptop in the boat & you do a couple of laps around a set course
trying different props. They then download the info to a different PC
& bring up the graphs etc. showing your speed, acceleration, times
etc.
so you can choose which prop suits the boat. [email them at proptech@one.net.au ]
With the Big Block only spinning at 6400rpm
the boat was doing 110mph -the engine should last forever at these
conservative revs.
In Circuit Racing the fastest boat doesn't always win the race; it is a combination of top end speed & acceleration. The BB Chev produces plenty of torque to get quickly off the line & out of the corners.
Both Larry & Lenny share the driving. [Len here]
The first major outing was at the UHPBC
Spectacular at Windsor in September 1999 where Alibice
won four out of four races including the
Lewis
Buhagair Memorial Trophy - Unblown Displacement

The next race meeting was the RTAC Spectacular at Raymond Terrace in October where we won the
Hunter Valley Championship [Unlimited / Unrestricted] held over 3 heats & The Flying Mile.
The motor had a fairly
major failure in February - Destroyed the block, cam, crank, couple of
rods & pistons; damaged some valves, push rods etc.
Should be back on the water pretty soon.
The boat finally made it back onto the water for the 2000 UHPBC Windsor Spectacular on the 2nd September. A new 525cu.in. engine [see MOTOR] gave us more accelleration and a couple of hundred extra revs for a few more mph top end.
We won all our races including the Lewis Buhagair Memorial Trophy - Unblown Displacement
for the second year running.
There is still room for improvement with some tuning etc which we had no time for prior to Windsor.
We changed the gearbox to an "Argo" V Drive unit & upped the gears to 48% step-up to give us a bit more top end. The Big Block seemed to like this, still giving us good accelleration with a few more mph top end.
We had some good close racing here on the January Long weekend [even a bump with another boat] & did fairly well with a couple of seconds & thirds.
The highlight was picking up Third Place in the Marj Watson -
Australasion
