Portfolio Allocations

I separate my total investments into two portions:

1) Personal Portfolio
2) Retirement (IRA, Roth IRA, SEP)

NOTE:

The reason I separate personal from retirement porfolios is the fact that we do get some slight tax advantages with IRA investments and I feel that those investments are the ones that can be more actively traded..
I will not address employer sponsored retirement plans as I am no longer a part of one. Needless to say, however, everyone should take maximum advantage of employer retirement plans. It isn't often that someone will give you free money!
As a rule, I invest in domestic equity funds only...I want to avoid foreign currency flucuations and economic uncertainty found elsewhere in the world.
Also, I concentrate on the large capitalization funds rather than small-cap or mid-cap funds.
