The Automotive Program at Portage Northern is designed to cover a two year educational plan that aligns with the N.A.T.E.F. and the AYES curriculum.  The first year covers Engine Electronics and Computerized Engine Controls.  The second year covers Steering & Suspension Systems and Conventional & Anti-Lock Brake Systems.

The state of Michigan requires all technicians to be certified in their area of repair.  At the end of the school year, the student is given the opportunity to take the Michigan State Certification Test.
