Activities:
- Ghost footprints-Help trace one of the student’s footprints on a sheet of white paper.
Outline this with black crayon and cut it out. Turn the heel up and draw the face.
- I make a bat for the students to trace
- We make bat headbands. The students color a sentence strip black for the band.
They can use the bat they traced or I have a bat color sheet they can color and cut out for
the front of the headband.
- We sort bats by whether they are mega or micro bats.
- During my development part of the lesson, I teach the students content information
on cats and bats.
- Make a bat mask.
- We make witches to hang from the ceiling. A triangle for the hat, circle for the face,
triangle for the dress, skinny rectangles for arms and legs, and triangle for boots.
- Witch’s Brew- Put lime sherbert in a bowl and pour ginger ale over the sherbert.
You get witch’s brew to drink. It bubbles and bubbles!
- Cat cookies-Using 1/2 oreo cookie, put icing on and then use canycorn for ears, m
and m’s for nose and eyes, and I take icing and make whiskers.
- Monster Cookies-take gingerbread man cookies and put icing on and then let the
children decorate with candy, etc.
- Monster Toast-You will need milk, food coloring, a toaster, bread, butter, and a paint
brush. Pour the milk in a cup. Add food coloring-make the milk paint brightly colored.
Paint a monster on the bread with the milk paint. Next toast the bread. After bread pops
up, lightly butter and munch your monster. (Idea from Cathy k/pa)
- Estimate candy corns
