The first type is called skeletal muscle. This type of muscle attaches to and moves bones. When the muscles contract, it causes your arms, legs, head, and other body parts to move. Skeletal muscle is striated, or banded. These bands are nutrients and proteins in the muscle.
The second type of muscle is called the smooth muscle. This type of muscle is not striated and therefore smooth. Smooth muscles are involuntary and can contract without you actively causing them to. These muscles help to control breathing, blood pressure, and the movements of the digestive system.
The third type of muscle tissue is called cardiac muscle. It is found only in the heart and is involuntary. The contractions of this muscle cause the heart to beat.
The muscular system is important to moving, breathing, and living. You should definitely try not to overwork and strain your muscles.
