Point of Vision
by
Nathanael Smith

Two people stood face to face
One looking toward the eastern sky
The second, toward the sunset
They described their world,
In flowing words of liquid color

One said "I see darkness
I see stars, the moon rises, full
I see a face, smiling, shining
Like the sun in her radience"

The other looked, and could see
The sun and the clouds and
The far distant mountains looming
And a silhouette, cutting out the light

"We are in different worlds,"
He cries. "You see dark, I see light
You see moon, I see sun
You see a loving face
All I can see is a silhouette."

But they were not in different worlds
They were embracing.
