Bush Mandate
2000
There has been much said about President George W. Bush losing the popular vote by about 500,000 votes. In our system, the popular votes ONLY elect the President in that state ONLY. Then it is up to the states through the electoral college to elect the President. So, does President Bush have a mandate or not? Look at these stats and YOU decide for yourself.
-   President Bush WON Tennessee, Al Gore's HOME state.
-   President Bush WON Arkansas, Ex-President Clinton's HOME state.
-   President Bush WON Texas, his HOME state.
-   President Bush WON Wyoming, Vice-President Cheney's HOME state.
-   President Bush WON MORE States than Al Gore did.
-   President Bush WON MORE Electoral votes than Al Gore did.
-   President Bush WON MORE counties than Al Gore did, 2434 (78.24%) versus 677 (21.76%).
-   President Bush WON MORE land area than Al Gore did, 2,427,039 (80.71%) square miles versus 580,134 (19.29%) square miles based upon counties won/lost.
I don't know, but I strongly suspect that in most of the counties Gore won that there was a very high percentage of the population addicted to the public pig trough. If someone will do the necessary research to confirm/deny this allegation, I will note the results here in a footnote.
