ETHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF PYRSOGIANNI STONEMASONS
|
The Museum is housed on the ground floor of the old stone school which was built in 1927 and constitutes an important monument of the vernacular architecture of Epirus. It includes rare ethnological material, composed of about 1300 photographs (1870-1940), taken in Greece, Sudan, Egypt, Persia and America, as well as in the towns of Argyrokastro (Albania) and Smyrna (Turkey), illustrating work and leisure scenes of the masons lives. The ethnological treasure displayed in the Museum constitutes a living school of architecture, which is complemented by seminars and educational activities organized by the cultural center of Pyrsogianni, which is housed on the first floor of the building. |
