CAT Tracks for April 24, 2009
BUNCH OF YAHOOS! |
"Yahoo!" sucks...
Logged into my website a few minutes ago with the intention of posting a story about the Chicago Cubs...a story that will especially resonate with those of you who remember Steve Kohn. (I will post that next!)
Lo and behold, an announcement from Yahoo!...
After careful consideration, Yahoo! has decided to close GeoCities later this year.
You can continue enjoying your GeoCities service until then, and when we close, we'll make it easy for you to transition to Yahoo! Web Hosting. You don't need to change a thing right now — we just wanted you to let you know about the closure as soon as possible. We'll share more details this summer. For now, please visit the help center for more information.
If you have forgotten (having bookmarked CAT Tracks years ago), GeoCities is the "portal" for CAT Tracks...no GeoCities, no CAT Tracks!
Again, "Yahoo!" sucks!!!
Hey...wonder if that's what happened to the District's "pot of gold"...the reason they say they are broke! Bet those suckers used that money to bribe "Yahoo!"...to shut the voice of CAT down!!!
Okay, okay...just being a "drama cat".
Trust me on this...CAT Tracks will disappear "over my dead body!"
Actually, I had already given thought to this scenario...combined with a desire to have a "cleaner Internet address". I was going to buy another address and use it as the "portal" to the current GeoCities address.
Setting up the "Home Page" would be simple...change a few links and done.
The problem is the "Archives"...the hundreds, yeah, thousands of posts that I have done over the past 12 years. (Of course, I'm fairly confident that I'm one of the few that ever visits/searches the "Archives", so that's not a major problem...just a nuisance.)
Oh, well...there is "good news" to all of this. You folks that keep worrying whether this old retired CAT can find anything to occupy his mind - especially WHEN the new contract is ratified - this should do it! (The italicized part of the previous sentence...I don't know what you were thinking, but I was thinking of the "maniacal laughing cat" from an earlier post.)
Anyway, have no fear...CAT Tracks is here...to stay!
When we have to change the address, I'll let you know...
