Lemuria is the nine-day feast of the dead. On these days the Vestals prepare the sacred mola salsa (salt cake) from the first ears of wheat of the season.

Ambarvalia - rites are performed in honor of Ceres, and involve a religious procession which circles the arva three times.

Mercuralia - on this day there are processions from the four parts of the city to the Tiber, where they cast the wooden effigies, called the argei, into the river. These argei, which have hung in the temples since the previous year, are considered to absorb various evils.
