Hello. This story's from a rather simple angle: Miles gets what he wishes for. The inspiration is more complicated: although I've grown up along with Miles, I sometimes miss the (operatic) days of Sergeant Bothari, Prince Serg, heads in shopping bags, adolescent angst, romance, suicide, true-love-at-first-sight and graphic violence. Which is why it's rated PG-13, and is not nearly as subtle as Lois's works. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to print out, download, or pass along, without alterations. My characters are rather insistent about it--- they don't like being lent out. (The opinions and actions of the characters are not necessarily shared by the author.) I am, of course, terribly happy that Lois lets us play with hers.

P.S. Although I have read A Civil Campaign, I have decided that revising this fic to fit the timeline would be too invasive. This alternate timeline is set after the Imperial Wedding, but [gasp!] as though the events of ACC had not occurred.
