What is Faith?

Faith is a funny thing. Before I knew God like I do now, I often wondered how the people that I saw who had lots of faith, acquired that faith. But most of all I won- dered, is their faith based on something real?  You see, I didn't know the God they were worshipping. I had no idea who He was, or even if He was real. Well, one event in my life changed all that. I was suddenly awakened by God and I knew that He was real. That's all there is to it. I just KNEW. That's why faith is a funny thing. It's not something one can convince  another of. You can recite all the mira- cles that have occurred, but a sceptic may still be able to come up with a  "logical explanation" for them.

That's why the only person that can "convince" you of God's existence, is God Himself. The only thing about God is that He doesn't chase people. He doesn't run after people doing miracle upon miracle, trying to convince them to open their eyes and see him. Why doesn't He do that? Well first of all, it says in the bible that God gave us free will. We can do whatever we like with our lives; we can live for God, or we can run from Him. The second reason is that it's not God who needs us to worship Him. It's us that need to worship Him! We need to receive Jesus, God's son, as our Saviour so that we can be cleansed of sin and receive eternal life. He WANTS us to know Him and His love for us, but he doesn't force it upon us. Sometimes I think faith isn't a feeling, as much as it is a decision. We must decide to seek God, and we must decide that we want to know if He's real, because like I said before, don't you want to know the truth? If you REALLY want to know if God is real, all you have to do is ask Him to show you. Ask Him to open your heart, your eyes, and your ears and to reveal Himself to you, and I'm sure you will get an answer. You'll probably be surprised at the response you get. Of course, it wont be a voice from heaven or a miraculous sign, which is why you also have to ask Him to sharpen your senses to His call.
