| The meeting was presided by Mr. Arturo O. Barbosa of the Notre Dame of Marbel College. During the historical meeting, the core group decided that the name of the association would be COLA (Cotabato Librarians Association). Afterwhich, the first sets of officers were elected. | Because of the hectic schedule the association temporarily became inactive. Years later, the librarians of the Notre Dame of Marbel College initiated the revival of the association in August 1990. This date became the birth of SOCOLA as an association for both public and private librarians and information officers in the Southern part of Mindanao. A new set of officers were elected for a term 2 years. | |||
