high school project for my English class. I know my wonderful
teacher Mrs. Hart will give the best grade she sees fit.... no

The story of "Romeo and Juliet" was written by William Shakespeare. It is a tragic story of two lovers born into families that hate each other because of a grudge that no one knows when, what, or who started it. I am providing some short descriptions of the characters from the play. |
Romeo- Son of the
Montagues. Falls in love with (and marries) Juliet (daughter of
the Capulets). He is exiled for killing Tybalt (kin to the
Capulets). He later commits suiside for his thought-to-be-dead
love.
Juliet- Daughter of the
Capulets. Falls in love with (and marries) Romeo. She fakes her
own death when she finds out Romeo is exiled so she will not have
to marry Paris (kin to Prince Escalus). She fakes her death by
going to Friar Laurence's and getting a "poison".
Later, when in the tomb, she kills herself for her just dead love
Romeo.
Friar Laurence- Married
Romeo and Juliet secretly against their parents. Gave Juliet a
"potion" to fake her own death so she wouldn't have to
marry Paris. He sent word via Friar John to tell Romeo of the
situation. The letter never made it and Romeo rushed to Juliet's
tomb where he drank poison he bought from the Apothecary.
Lord Montague- Father of
Romeo.
Lady Montague- Mother of
Romeo. Died of a broken heart at the end of the story when her
son Romeo was exiled for the death of Tybalt.
Lord Capulet- Father of
Juliet.
Lady Capulet- Mother of
Juliet
Benvolio- Peace maker of
the group
Mercutio- Kin to Price
Escalus. Dies by the hands of Tybalt. The joke maker of the
group.
Tybalt- Kin to Price
Escalus and the Capulets. Dies by the hands of Romeo.
Nurse- Rambler of the
group. Nurse to Juliet. Big mouth. Secretly met with Romeo and
arranged the wedding to him and Juliet.
Prince Escalus- Ruler of
the region. Forbade fighting amongst the Montagues and the
Capulets.
Count Paris- Was to marry
Juliet. Had permission from Lord Montague to wed her. He died at
the hands of Romeo near the tomb.
Balthasar- servant to
Romeo in Mantua.
Friar John- Tried to
deliver a message from Friar Laurence to Romeo to tell him of the
plans of Juliet's fake death.
Gregory- Servant of the
Capulets that started a brawl at the beginning of the story
Sampson-Another servant
of the Capulets that started a brawl at the beginning of the
story
Abraham- servant of the
Montagues also involved at the brawl in the beginning of the
story.
Apothecary- Sold Romeo
poison to end his life.
