Isn't this a cute panda. It's a new thing I've added. You know, graphicky stuff. If you click on it, you can go back to my home page. But read on first.
Enough of the cutesy stuff. I am currently working at the Lowe Group in London, England. The Lowe Group is an advertising agency in Knightsbridge near Harrods. I'm in their information unit, temping there until mid-Jan. Susan is bearing up at Bankers Trust's library at their Broadgate office near Liverpool Street.
Our new home is shaping up. In April we moved into to a Victorian ground floor flat. It is a lovely home, with a small conservatory and garden. We seem to spend a lot of our time sanding the floors with little to show for it except a lot of sawdust and clogged lungs. there is a patina of dissolved wood over every surface since we bought the sander. To be fair, it is starting to look nice (the floor) and the big block of beeswax I bought in Elmira will soon be applied to it. We have a fair amount of exposed wood in our house, thanks to the previous owner, Natasha Gross, who had similar tastes to ours. What wood wasn't exposed before we arrived has been the subject of much excavation, Susan and I having become Schwarzennegars with the stripping tools. Wherever possible we've attempted to decorate with period objects - in a troublingly middle class way I'm inordinately proud of the 1902 wood and brass carpet sweeper we found in Rye. The piece is strictly decorative as the only carpet we have is a Russian Orthodox prayer mat with an image of the Virgin and Child, a gift from Russia and hardly large enough for sustained carpet sweeping.
I was working at the Museum of the Moving Image for four months this year as a member of the acting company. The museum features a troupe of actors who people the various film environments found there, interacting with visitors as if they were personalities from different eras and areas of film-making. I was 'Dewey Henderson' in 1939 Hollywood and Arthur Charles Cook in 1946 London. It was hugely fun, and I've made some good friends there, some of whom I have been workshopping improv with in the hopes of performing in London. Keep an eye on my website for upcoming gigs.
I am very excited at the prospect of having this website. It is my second publishing venture this month now that I am a columnist in Professional Security magazine, a trade journal for security companies. I am their web reviewer! Funny old world, 'innit. At this rate I'll be hosting my own cable-tv chatshow within a week. That, mind you, has always been something of a personal nightmare. Hopefully not.
Anyways, that's how things stand at present. Look, if you want more, check in with me again. Or e-mail, sign in my guestbook. Gosh,. the possibilities are endless. Remember, the holiday season is upon us, so start sending those expensive gifts!
Ta for now!
Drew!
