Christmas in Italy
In Italy Christmas is called Navenda. In Italy
there is no Santa Claus. In Italy the best Christmas dinner is a
large female eel. Christmas is celebrated on the midday of the 25th.
The main decorations are Nativity scenes
In Italy there are traditions in gift giving. They
believe that Jesus Christ in person brings them the presents. They
put out corn for Jesus's camels and a glass of milk and cookies for
him.
In Italy one custom is lighting many candles as
the children in the family take turns telling the story of Christmas.
One folklore story is about La Befana. She is a kindly old witch that
brings gifts to the children.
