Christmas in Mexico
In Mexico Christmas is called Navidad. Mexico doesn't have a Santa
Claus. In Mexico, they make their list to el Nino Dios for Christmas
Eve.
They eat corn gruel, Bicayan cod, wild greens, imoles sauce, roast
turkey, ham, suckling pig and a hot fruit punch. They eat supper on
Christmas Eve.
They use a Nativity scene for decorations. Today a decorated
Christmas tree may be used, usually an artificial one.
The main celebration in Mexico is called las posadas. They begin
nine days before Christmas. They have processions reenacting Joseph
and Mary's search for a place to stay in Bethlehem.
