HAROLD DAVID PARKS
Harold David Parks was born, March 2, 1945 in Lexington, North Carolina. He earned a
Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1992 where
he was on the Presidents List. Academic awards at The University of Alabama included the
Ronald P. Shankles Faculty Award for Academic Excellence, the Samuel J. Senter Scholarship,
Faculty scholarship award for Outstanding Independent Study of The U.S.-Vietnam War, and an
invitation to compete for the Rhodes Scholarship.
Harold David Parks is a U.S. Army veteran (Vietnam 1967-68), and since 1978 has been
employed as a high school teacher at Central Davidson Sr. High School in Lexington, North
Carolina, USA. He has co-authored papers on the effects of war stress in WWII veterans that
have been presented at the Southern Gerontological Society. He enjoys writing and has
completed an as yet unpublished historical novel. His writings on Mahatma Gandhi are the
culmination of his thesis efforts at Wake Forest University where he recently earned a Master of
Arts Degree.
