CHURCH OF SKY

A Bird In the Garden of Love

A bird sings sweetly in the garden of love
Pleasing the gardener, who smiles above.
What gardener wouldn't love to see it there
Making melody in the morning air?

And if faith brought it back year by year
To please an aging gardener's ear,
Like the familiar peal of an old church bell
It may be loved for that as well.

But if the bird began to crow
And say that others are not loved so,
How would the gardener greet the song
That once made others sing along?
