When I was 13, I was told that I lived in a fantacy world, and that someone needed to pop my bubble. Thirty years later, I find great pleasure and solace in that very same fantacy world. I still love the things I loved then, and probably always will.
There was something I learned in 9th grade that I never forgot. It was in Civics class, under the direction of Coach Davis. He said, "If you don't remember anything else from this class, remember this; you're rights go as far as infringing upon the rights of another". This thought has guided me through life and seems to answer alot of seemingly unanswerable debates.
There was something I heard once, concerning racism, that made alot of sense. It made so much sense, that I taught it to my children as they were growing up. They learned from me, that "it's not the color of the balloon that makes it rise, it's what's inside". I believe this to be true.
And, just what IS inside? I believe we are all eternal spiritual beings. Regarding God first and loving others, as we ourselves are loved by God, is the path I've chosen in my life. I've strayed from that path many times, but each day begins anew, without mistakes. Something Mother taught my children and me was, "How do you get JOY in your life? Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last. Thus, JOY"! Although she suffered much tagedy in her lifetime, as some of us do, she lived with JOY in her heart, and proved this to be true.
Finally, after all these years of attained and unattained goals, I find myself in agreement with John Lennon, "Life is what happens while we're making plans".
These are a few of the things I've found usefull in life. There are many other important things that could be mentioned, but I fear being the next recipient of the "Carpal Tunnel Award", dare I go on. There's one other quote I find pleasure in, and that being the words of a renown storyteller, Keilor Garrison, "...and that's our show for tonight folks, from Lake Wobegone, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average".
Some say love, it is a hunger,An endless aching need.I say love, it is a flowerAnd in you it's only seed.
It's the heart afraid of breakingThat never learns to dance. It's the dream afraid of wakingThat never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be takenWho cannot seem to give,And the soul afraid of dyin'That never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonelyAnd the road has been too long,And you think that love is onlyFor the lucky and the strong.
Just remember in the winterFar beneath the bitter snowLies the seed that with the sun's loveIn the spring becomes the rose.
