Coven of the Solar Orb

The Coven Of The Solar Orb has been established in Brisbane since 1991, and has been responsible for introducing over a hundred people to the Craft, many of whom have gone on to form their own groups and nearly all of whom continue to worship the Goddess in their own way. The Coven Of The Solar Orb has the benefit of a teacher with 20 years experience in both the Craft and the Occult.
We describe ourselves as "Occult Witches" and are not "Wiccan". We live our lives following the same affirmations of "Do What Thou Wilt But Harm None; Love For And Kinship With Nature; and Acceptance Of The Polarity Of Deity". What separates us from other traditions is the depth of our study. Each individual decides to what extent they choose to learn, but continuing progress within the Coven does have certain requirements. We are NOT a "Dark" Coven, but we are certainly "Balanced".
Our Coven is open as a Training Coven for two reasons:

A genuine desire to share what we know with those who are sincere about learning

We feel that there are many people who miss the opportunity to learn, simply because they don’t know where to find these groups... so we advertise twice a year
Our Training Programme is structured in such a way that both the public and the Coven benefit. Firstly, many people prefer to be Solitaries and simply need help initially, until they have a sound base knowledge of the Craft (coupled with a bit more confidence), and then prefer to Worship and practice on their own. They don’t feel that committing to a Coven is what they want to do (and let's face it, joining a Coven IS a commitment). Our teaching covers an initial six month period, at the end of which the student will have enough knowledge to continue on their own and are free to do so.
Secondly, those wishing to continue with the Coven will be given the opportunity to join with us, and we will continue to assist them with their studies. In this way, those who become part of the Coven are there because they want to be, not because they won’t learn otherwise. Thus we have the foundations for a solid, close knit group.
This Coven uses the terms "Sukkal" and "Vizier" in place of High Priestess and High Priest. Sukkal and Vizier are ancient Sumerian names meaning "Servant of" the Goddess and God respectively. They are positions earned through service to the Deity and their use is simply a matter of personal preference amongst the Coven.
We, wherever possible, work in conjunction with the many other Pagan groups throughout Brisbane and the extended regions and encourage the attitudes of tolerance and acceptance, regardless of belief. We are very much in support of increasing public awareness of Paganism and all associated traditions which is another reason we choose to open ourselves to the public.
