
Pier-Franco Donovan was
born in Florence, Italy. He currently resides in Cesano Boscone (Milan).
In 1987 he graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, U.S.A.
(B.A., major in Comparative Literature).
In 1990 he translated into Italian and edited the publication of the
volume Teorie e altre liriche (Rome, Carlo Mancosu Editore) by the
British poet Peter Russell.
Other translations of Russell's poems are published in the collections La
catena d'oro (Florence, Edizioni Paideia 1998) and Poesie
dal Valdarno (Florence, Pietro Chegai Editore 1999).
From 1992 to 2002 he has been the personal assistant of the Italian poet Mario Luzi.
In November 1993 his first collection of poems, Condensations, bilingual
edition English/Italian was published by the University of Salzburg (Austria).
On June 14th, 1995, he was the guest of the television
program Poesie nel cassetto, hosted by Franco Bertelli, on TV
Prato.
Since 1995 he is a member of the Italian PEN
Club and since 1998 a member of the Sindacato Nazionale Scrittori (Writers'
Union).
He is the editor of the works of the deceased Italian poet Helle
Busacca.
Since February 1998 he is on the board of "La Camerata dei
Poeti" (founded in 1930) in Florence.
In 2000 he edited the new Italian version of James M.
Dornan's Strategies for Success (Network TwentyOne 1997).
In 2004 he has edited the Italian translation
of Robert Kiyosaki's, The Cashflow Quadrant
(Gribaudi Editore, Milano 2004).
In 2005 he has translated into Italian, with Cristina Bianchini, Burke Hedges's, The Parable of the Pipeline
(NTS S.r.l., Prato 2005).
Nel 2006 has edited the Italian version
of Pat Williams's, How To Be Like Rich DeVos
(Gribaudi Editore, Milano 2006).
In 2006 he has translated into Italian, with Cristina Bianchini, Burke Hedges's, Dream-Biz.com
(NTS S.r.l., Prato 2006).
His poems and translations from English have been published on national
and international literary magazines.
Presently he is working as a freelance translator and interpreter. Among his services are also translations in any format of audio and video material (subtitling of videos included). |
