Princess Martha-Louise

Princess Martha-Louise, the eldest daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja, was born on September 22, 1971. She was the eldest child of a relatively young Norwegian royal family, who only came to the throne after the dissolution of union with Sweden in 1905 and are descended from the Danish royal line. During her school years, the Princess was a member of the choir and performed a solo on national television. She also plays the flute and once joined a Norwegian folk museum dance group. During her school years, Martha-Louise also studied English at Oxford University in England. Her education has given her full certification as a physical therapist. The Princess' great passion, though, is "the sport of kings," horseback riding. She trained in England for the sport at Waterstock Training Center and Arena UK. Recently the Princess has been training. However, she also participates in humanitarian efforts. Martha-Louise was a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations in Africa, helping refugees on the border between Ivory Coast and Liberia.

Prince Haakon Magnus

Prince Haakon Magnus, second child of Harald V and Queen Sonja and Crown Prince of Norway, was born on July 20, 1973. Though Norway's constitution now allows the the eldest child, whether son or daughter, to succeed to the throne, this came into effect after the Prince's birth, making him the heir. After his graduation from Kristelig Gymnasium in 1992, the Prince went on to join the Navy. Since 1996, the Prince has been studying at the University of California in Berkley in the United States, majoring in political science. When he's not in college, the Prince lives with his family at Skaugum in Asker, which is just outside of Oslo. Haakon Magnus is an athletic person who enjoys sailing, skiing, cycling, and paragliding. He also is a theater buff who enjoys the plays of Henrik Ibsen.
