Prince Willem-Alexander
Willem-Alexander George Ferdinand, Prince of Orange and Jonkheer von Amsberg, was born on April 27, 1967 at University Hospital in Utrecht to Prince Claus von Amsberg and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, who later became Queen Beatrix. As the first Dutch male heir to the throne in the 20th century, the Prince has sometimes come under close, unfriendly press scrutiny in comparison to his female predecessors.
As a child, the Prince attended Nieuwe Baarnse School and later went to the Baarns Lyceum. His mother became queen in 1980, forcing the Prince to move to The Hague, where he finished secondary school at Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum in 1983. He then went to Wales and attended Atlantic College, graduating in 1985. After a stint in the Royal Netherlands Navy between 1985 and 1987, he became a history student at Leiden University, graduating in 1993.
From 1985-1987, in the royal tradition, Willem-Alexander joined the Royal Netherlands Navy. Today he holds the rank of Commander in the Royal Naval Reserve, Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Netherlands Army Reserve and Wing Commander in the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
The Prince is a member of the International Olympic Committee, and enjoys sports such as skiing, horseback riding, and flying. At 31 years old, Willem-Alexander is feeling pressure to marry and continue the family line, but he is currently single after ending a long-term relationship this summer.
Prince Johan Friso
A year after his brother, Prince Johan Friso was born on September 25, 1968. He attended elementary school at Nieuwe Baarnse School and then moved on to the Baarns Lyceum. When the family moved to The Hague, the Prince joined Willem-Alexander at Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum, finishing with a pre-university education certificate in 1986. The Prince then went to the United States to study mechanical engineering at the University of California in Berkeley, where Crown Prince Haakon Magnus is currently a student, until 1988. The Prince then moved on to Delft University of Technology from 1988-1994 where he studied aerospace engineering, and after an internship with California's aerospace manufacturer McDonnell-Douglas in 1994, graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering management. The Prince then continued his education at Erasmus University, receiving a degree in economics in 1995. He took a break from his education from 1995-1996 to work at McKinsey and Company, and then picked up right where he left off. Today he is a student at the European Institute of Business Administration in Fontainebleau, France. When he's not studying, Johan Friso enjoys golfing and diving.
Prince Constantijn
Prince Constantijn, the last of Queen Beatrix's three children, was born on October 11, 1969. Like his brothers, Constantijn attended Nieuwe Baarnse School. The Prince entered secondary school at Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum in 1981 after his family's move to The Hague. He graduated in 1987, and then went to the Sorbonne in Paris and Universita per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy until 1988 to study Italian and French. He then entered Leiden University, where he studied law until graduating in 1995. Today he is employed for the Cabinet of the Dutch European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. This popular Prince enjoys skiing (like every other royal) and drawing, as well as soccer, judo, and golf.
