Currencies of Post Independent India
A collection of Indian Paper Currency issued in India after August 15, 1947.
India achieved independence from British rule on 15th
August, 1947. A constituent assembly was formed, which drafted a constitution
for the new Nation. It was adopted on 26th January, 1950 and India was declared
a Republic. The constitution provided the "National Language" status for
Hindi and "Regional language" status to certain provincial languages of India.
