Convention Highlights

New Orleans was a great place to visit! Great food, great sites, good friends, educational sessions to keep your brain humming for a year, the dynamic International Speech Contest and exciting awards ceremonies. Arizonans attended in strength - 23 members of District 3 attended the August conference.

Brian Cavanaugh did an outstanding job in the International Contest. His speech titled "The Journey Makes Us One" was extremely well received. Brian illustrated how people struggle to achieve a common goal and when they make it, the journey makes them whole. Thank you Brian for representing District 3 and Region 3.

Willie Jones, this year's winner of the International Speech Contest, was once a member of District 3 before he moved to Hawaii. While a member of Willie Talespinners, Mr. Jones represented District 3 in the International Speech Contest in 1983 in San Diego. Willie was congratulated by long time friends Dee Dees and Mary Margaret Dockendorff.

President's Citation

George Barnett received the most distinguished award of the conference, The President's Citation. International President Robert Barnhill, DTM, likened him to a giant among Toastmasters. Congratulations, George!!!

Nancy Starr received the Excellence in Education award for helping District 3 achieve its educational goals. Way to go, Nancy!!!
