Anwar Al-Ghassani
Born in Iraq in 1937. I worked first in petroleum exploration and drilling, later as a secondary school teacher, journalist and translator. I also studied painting for a short time at the Unversity of Baghdad.
In 1979, I got a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Leipzig, Germany. I taught journalism in Germany and Algeria. At present, I am associate professor of journalism and computer-mediated communication at the University of Costa Rica, Costa Rica.
My main interest is poetry. I writes poetry in Arabic and English and have published poems in many countries and languages. In 1992, my epical poem "Iraq" was published by Riad El-Rayyes Books (London/Beirut.) Other interests: nonviolence, journalism, computer science, mathematics.
