Walburga Ballweg was born in Steinfurt, Germany on 1 May, 1854.* Her parents were Thomas Ballweg & Viktoria Bierling (26 January, 1824--5 March 1908, USA), the daughter of Isidor Bierling & Johanna Winterin. [note: have also seen her last name spelled "Pierling" and "Bailing"]
Walburga married Wilhelm Schneider of Reidurn in September of 1878 and their first child, Wilhemina, was born the following June. At least eight other children followed, Marie Schneider being the last, in 1894. Walburga (Ballweg) Schneider died on 22 January, 1929.
Thomas Ballweg
Grandfather of Otto Joseph Schneider
Thomas Ballweg was born in Steinfurt, Germany on 19 December, 1815. He was the second son of Sebastian Ballweg and Maria Gertrud Schreck (17 Mar 1786--3 Aug 1838), who had been born in Schweinburg, Germany to Melchior Schrek and Cazille Hefner. Like his father and grandfather and ggf, Thomas was a farmer. On 5 Jun 1848 he married Viktoria Bierling (Pierling?), the daughter of Isidor Bielring and Johanna Winterin. Thomas Ballweg died 6 Apr 1867. Viktoria subsequently emigrated to the United States where she died 5 Mar 1908.

Great Grandfather of Otto Joseph Schneider
Sebastian Ballweg (10 Dec 1774--23 apr 1824) was the second son of Johann Jakob Ballweg and Maria Katharina Munch (22 Nov 1743--21 Feb 1799), the daughter of Johann Nikolas Munch and Barbara Seeber. They were married in Steinfurt, Germany, on 30 Jul 1771.

Johann Jakob Ballweg was the son of Johann Adam Ballweg (11 Mr 1710-13 S 1743) and Maria Barbara Horn (3 Mr 1719--19 S 1784), the daughter of Johann Leonhard Horn and Anna Barbara Herbst. On 30 Jul 1771, he married Maria Katharina Munch, (22 Nov 1743--21 Feb 1799), the daughter of Johann Nikolas Munch and Barbara Seeber. Johann Jakob died in Hopfingen 11 Aug 1813.

Born in Steinfurt, Germany, Johann Adam Ballweg was the eldest son of Johann Georg Ballweg (abt 1677--27 Jl 1743) and Maria Eva Lutz (22 Ap 1682--2 N 1740), the daughter of Lorenz Lutz and Elisabeh Ditter.

4th Great Grandfather of Otto Joseph Schneider
Johann Georg Ballweg was born in Dorlseburg, Germany, abt. 1677. He was the son of Sebastian Ballweg and Anna Maria [?]. Johann Georg married Maria Eva Lutz (22 Apr 1682--2 Nov 1740). Her parents were Lorenz Lutz and Elisabeth Ditter. At some point he moved to Steinfurt, where he died 27 Jul 1743.

Brother of Walburga Ballweg Schneider
Herman Ballweg (4 Jl 1863--1959), emigrated to the United States around 1880/1881, settling in New York, and encouraged his nieces and nephews to do the same. Many of them did and he did his best to help them, among them Walburga's son, Otto Schneider, who later named his first born son for him.
Herman Ballweg was married twice. His first wife (m. 23 Nov 1886 in Queens, NY) was named Susanna (b. F 1866--10 Oct 1912).
The children of Herman Ballweg (both born in NY) were:
Herman Ballweg's second wife was Brigitta (b. 1868), whose first husband had been Hugo Furderer. The Fuirderers had an adopted daughter named Madeline (b. 1894). Herman and Brigiita Ballweg had no children of their own.
Maria Theresia Ballweg
Sister of Walburga Ballweg Schneider
Theresa Ballweg, was born in Germany on 14 Ap, 1866 and died 29 N, 1958. She was married (17 Ja, 1886, Most Holy Trinity Church, Brooklyn, NY) to Franz Hebenstreit (9 My 1859, Hopfingen, Bavaria--7 D 1933), the son of Johann Blasius Hebenstreit & Maria Helena Hafner (m. 18 Je 1857). Franz had two siblings: Anna Maria Hebenstreit (6 S 1860--19 Ag 1931), who m. Franz Ludwig Hauk & Wilhelm Hebenstreit (d. 23 N 1894 in the USA). Both Theresia and Franz Hebenstreit are buried in St. John's Cemetery, Richmond Hill, NY.

August Ballweg
August Ballweg was married to Elizabeth Anna Herold, the daughter of Anna Herold Schneider's brother, Franz Josef. August and Anna were married in 1937 and had two children: Hubert and Gerhard.
It is not known if August Ballweg was related to the above-mentioned Ballwegs.
