The Egypt Exploration Society (aka Egypt Exploration Fund) was founded by Amelia Edwards (and a few others) in 1882. Since then it has worked to investigate, make surveys, explorations and excavations at ancient sites thoughout Egypt and the Sudan. They published the results of this work and increased what knowledge we have of Egypt.

Many great archaeologists have worked for the Society, including Flinders Petrie, Naville, Griffith, and Emery. They have worked at many famous sites too. Petrie worked at Abydos an important center for the cult of Osiris in ancient times. Naville worked at Thebes including at Hatshepsut's great temple at Deir el Bahri.

If you'd like to make a contribution to the Society and help out with its work, write to the address below for more information.
