About Christina

I'm a Singaporean of Chinese ancestry. Although I'm of the Chinese race, I converse better in English than in my mother tongue (which isn't strange in multi-racial cosmopolitan Singapore—in fact, nothing is too strange here these days, or in the world, for that matter).

Schools that had a part in moulding me:
  • Anglo-Chinese Junior College
The pre-university wing of the Anglo-Chinese School—a school that is rich in spirit and old boy/girl loyalty (I think).
  • National University of Singapore
The name is self-explanatory. The place where I graduated from with a BA in English Language and Philosophy; and an MA in English Studies.
  • National Institute of Education
An institute of Nanyang Technological University. The only official teacher-training institution in Singapore, where every primary school, secondary school, or junior college teacher gets his/her diploma to teach.

What I've done with my life and what I'm doing now:

  • I was a secondary school English Teacher for the first 4 years of my career. I also taught Mathematics and Computer Applications.
  • I was a Part-Time/Adjunct Lecturer of language and communication skills in 3 Polytechnics at various intervals in my working life.
  • I was also a Part-Time English Instructor to various groups of Asian teenage scholars and adult government officials for 2 years. It was great teaching them, as I learnt so much from them about their diverse cultures and social backgrounds.
  • I then became an Editor and Writer of educational publications in the University where I graduated from.

Outside of my work, I'm interested in picking up web-designing and web-publishing skills. I'm also into fiction writing...although I'm a great procrastinator, and I'm so terribly easily distracted.

I'm married to a most patient and loving husband. We were actually students of the same Junior College, but we never met till we taught in the same secondary school almost 10 years later. I also realise that some things that have happened in his life seem to be mirror reflections of those that have happened in mine. God has a great sense of humour.
