Music of the Mountains

Singing softly over time-worn pebbles,

or resonating around the boulders,

water music of the mountain stream,

gently reminding me of truth.

The music of our lives sings strongly

when the obstacles we face

become the source of learning

rather than a barrier to joy.

The choice of symphony or cacaphony

is ours although the water and the stones

remain within the streambed along

the trail of our lives.

We may hear the music resonating,

accepting time as gift, polishing our edges;

or we may choose to feel the pressure

of constant, persisting challenge.

Music builds from harmony of tone and instrument,

water symphony grows from variety and obstacles.

Spirit song is gift of our lives when we

are instrument allowing life to tune our souls.
