Bharathiyar Kavithaigal
Mahakkavi Subramanya Bharathiyar, one of the greatest tamil poets of this century,
and a brave freedom fighter, need not to be introduced to tamils, and even to any Indian. Bharathi's literary works crossed the frontiers of writing conventional poems, by pioneering the new way of writing verses (puthukkavithai), writing meaningful short stories, and translating famous tamil literature into world languages, and from world literature into tamil.
One can realize simply by skimming his tamil poems, his interests had gone beyond his language, nation, and freedom movement. His imagination took him to a point, were space research could be possible, when even automobile was treated as a
myth. His interests stretched beyond the boundaries of various engineering disciplines, who envisioned the necessity for road cleaning methods and at the same time wanted to build a bridge over Indian ocean.
Most of his verses reveal his yogic way of thinking, which is very very rare characteristic for a revolutionist. It was easy for him to praise Bhakhavath Geetha as well as to criticize vedam.
We thought it would be of immense use to bring all his works on the internet, especially his tamil poems. The idea behind doing this is, it can provide a mean to use a tamil search engine in order to locate a particular poem or some portion of a poem. We wish to bring all his works on the net.
