Flat Stanley Visits My Studio and Web Site
Matt in Owego, New York sent Flat Stanley to visit my studio in Elmira, New York. (Flat Stanley books are written by Jeff Brown and illustrated by Steve Bjorkman.)
Stanley enjoyed relaxing on my drawing
table and watching me work. I drew three characters from my next
book, Huggly and the Pizza Hunt. Stanley explored
everything in my studio. He found pencils, paper, books, more
pencils, coffee cups, paints, more books, drawings,
illustrations, even more pencils, toys, puppets, filing cabinets,
stacks and stacks of books, a radio and CD player, a telephone, a
fax machine, more and more pencils, a computer, a printer and a
scanner.
Stanley enjoyed reading my books about
Huggly, the little monster who lives under the bed. Stan didn't
realize that monsters could be friendly and even a little
frightened of human people.
He liked the little green monster so much
that I decided to introduce him to the real Huggly. Stan and
Huggly quickly became best buddies. They have a lot in common
because they are both characters in books and they both like to
go on adventures. But Huggly is short and round. Stanley is flat,
flat, flat!
Stanley really liked the computer. He
wanted to get on the Internet and go into cyberspace. So I put
Flat Stanley into my scanner so his image could be turned into
electronic data. Then he appeared on my computer screen. I
uploaded him to my web site. Now, children all over the world
can
see Matt's Flat Stanley when they view my web pages. So, in a
way, Stanley is traveling all over the world electronically. I
hope he has his electronic toothbrush. Stan was really thrilled
to see himself on the computer screen.
Here I am with Flat Stanley. We had a
great time together. Thanks for introducing us, Matt! Keep up the
good work and keep reading!
