Back To School Night
(This synopsis of Back To School
Night
is not meant to replace a personal greeting and a
friendly hello. Hopefully it wll be used as a
refresher or perhaps it can be of service to a newly
transferred student.)
Welcome to the 4th grade! You are beginning a year
which I hope you'll find interesting, challenging,
full of growth, and most of all-fun! Your child will
become an independent learner by the end of the year.
As a teacher, I believe each child is important and
that each has special talents. We will be learning
about "Respect Life" - respecting and caring for each
other. The highlight of 4th grade is
Teddy Bear Day ,
usually held in February.
TESTS
Tests are sent home on Monday. Please sign and return
them. Exceptions are when absent students have not
made up the test yet.
HOMEWORK
Homework assignments are copied on looseleaf paper
and are to be completed on the looseleaf paper.
CLASS TRIPS
We look forward to two class trips this year. On
Wednesday, December 1st we will be going to the
Academy of Natural Science. On Wednesday, May 10th we
will be going to
Pennsbury Manor.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Happy Birthday! To avoid hurt feelings, we ask that
party invitations are not given out in school.
Invitations sent in to school must include all boys
or all girls or the entire class.
PARENTS ARE PARTNERS
Parents are our partners. Good communication is the
key to a successful year for your child. Please take
a moment to share pertinent information with us. Does
your child wear glasses? Is there a medical condition
we should be aware of? Does your child have asthma or
ADHD?
CONFESSION
The class as a group goes to Confession on Thursday.
1-800-VISIT-PA
If you have not already done so, please dial
1-800-VISIT-PA to receive a free visitor's guide
to Pennsylvania which includes a large gridded map
and literature about places of interest.
VOLUNTEERS - AIDES
Volunteers are greatly appreciated. If you can spare
1 hour a week or can help with a one-time
project, please let us know. Perhaps you have a
special talent you could share with the class?
SCHOLAR $$ AND BRAT BUCKS
Scholar Dollars are given to children who do their
best work. Brat Bucks are given to children who show
improvement and kind behaviors. Children delight in
putting these Bucks and Dollars into the box in hopes
of winning the Drawing.
ABSENCE - LATENESS
Please send in a note explaining any lateness or
absence with the child upon their return. Children
are encouraged to come into school in the event of
tardiness rather than missing a full day of school.
LUNCHTIME
Students are requested to bring in a hand towel with
their lunch. This small effort keeps the desks and
our room clean.
PEN-PALS
We have a Pen-Pal program with a 4th Grade class in
Arkansas. We share a history with this school and
also a name- Christ The King.
4TH GRADE
Welcome to 4th Grade! This is a "transitional" and
very important year for our students. In grades 1
through 3, students learn to read. In 4th
Grade, students read to learn. This is a very
exciting concept. Join us as we help your children to
successfully meet the challenges they face with a
new-found maturity.
