The latest articulation agreements between the ELAC
Engineering Department and Universities urge our Engineering Transfer
students to complete their lower division engineering classes at
ELAC. Many ELAC programs are articulated as packages of several
courses, requiring completion of all courses in the package in order
to obtain credit at the university. Thus, early transfer is
not allowed by some universities, while others do not consider the
transferred student to be a Junior under these circumstances.
Due to the high unit demand placed on engineering
students at ELAC (and at the universities), they complete only
certain areas of the General Education requirements while at ELAC,
including:
- English 101
- Political Science 1
- History 12
The laboratory science general education requirements
are automatically met through completion of the major courses in
Engineering.
All students entering the ELAC Engineering Transfer
program must see the engineering advisor in G8-127 prior to enrolling
in any classes. Articulation agreements for each university
are reviewed, and a specific program of study is planned to suit
each student's needs.
Engineering 2+2 Programs
East Los Angeles College and selected Southern California
universities have entered into 2+2 articulation agreements which:
- Guarantee that students completing the required
courses at ELAC will enter those universities as Juniors and
will be able to graduate in two years.
- Guarantee acceptance/articulation of the required
ELAC courses.
- Allow ELAC students to complete a substantial
number of their general education units counting toward their
general education certification.
- At CSULA, provides the students an "early catalog
date" Elac students who enroll in the 2+2 Program are guaranteed
that they will not be affected by later changes in the program
at CSULA.
