Love of Ideas
1. GOD: RELIGION, The BIBLE
- I believe in God, a LOVING God, who tolerates ALL HUMAN RELIGIONS.
- I believe that God, in His wisdom, put humans on earth to LEARN to LOVE each other.
- I believe that the Bible and other sacred writings teach of this LOVE.
- Unfortunately, some men/women in their UNWISDOM, tend to negate the love that God propounds.
- Religious (and other) wars and persecution over the centuries attest to the distortion of God's love by people.
- The Newtonian idea of the Universe, its beautiful extension by Einstein with his Theory of Relativity, and Quantum Theory are some of the most elegant and profound thinking of human beings.
- These attempts to understand and explain the Universe are some of "our finest hours", regardless of whether they will all someday be supplanted by other systems.
- I believe that MUSIC is as much an IDEA as it is anything else; a Fabulous Idea, able to invoke in us very STRONG and WONDERFUL FEELINGS.
- Music is somewhat of a MYSTICAL medium and has always had strong RELIGIOUS significance for humans, probably at least partly due to this mystical characteristic.
- Favorite Classical: Brahms, Beethoven, Bach, Debussy, Bruch, Schumann, Grieg, Dvorak.
- Favorite Jazz: Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Harry James.
- Favorite Rock & Pop: Stevie Nix-Gypsey; Styx-Come Sail Away; Bruce Springsteen-Streets of Philadelphia; Manfred Mann's EarthBand-Blinded by the Light; Chris de Burgh-Fatal Hesitation;
- My Piano Compositions: .."Worm Song", several "Preludes", "Flowers Opening", "Berceuse", "Cantus Trajanus", "Etude in A Flat", "Canonical Variations", "Poeme", "Figure on the Beach", and others.
- My Songs: .."I Will Make You Brooches", "Merlin", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", and others.
- My Compositions for Strings & Woodwinds: .."Flowers Opening" for String Quartet (Much expanded version of piano piece) and "To a Bluebird" for Woodwind Quintet.
- My philosophy is LIBERAL. I believe that love of fellow man/woman can be translated as kindness to people, consideration for others, and helpfulness; but also means non-interference by governments and other authorities as much as possible.
