It is true that in the 8 years (That's right 8 years) at Marcos that i have seen a lot of reduction in the Fine Arts department and the district does not care at all. Their main worry is lying to the public about there problems of there not being enough m ney when there is, it's just that they are not balencing it right. Well that's my 2 cents. I was the teacher of vocal music at Marcos de Niza for 19 years before moving to Hesston College in Kansas in 1992. We had to f ght battles to continue funding for our music program during those years, but never did we have the budget cut 100%. Sounds like things are really bad in Tempe, and of all things in a university town. Have you approached the music educators/fine arts ed cators concerning the problem at ASU? The city leaders, like the mayor and others should also be apprised of the situation, because families wanted to live in Tempe because of the fine music and other programs in the schools. Maybe a campaign should be tarted to elect people on the school board who would promote the fine arts instead of work to eliminate them. |
